South Korean Delegation Explores GOC-UZ

GOC-UZ, a prominent Uzbek-Korean enterprise, recently had the honor of hosting a significant delegation from South Korea. This visit, spearheaded by Park Byung-gyu, the leader of Gwangsan-gu district in Gwangju, was facilitated by the Syrdarya regional administration with vital support from the Uzbek Embassy in South Korea. The delegation comprised officials, district deputies, leaders from the Korean-Uzbek Business Association, university heads, and top executives from key companies and organizations.

The visit formed part of a broader agenda set between April 19 and 23, which included a business forum, B2B and B2G meetings, signing a cooperation memorandum, exploring major economic initiatives, and engaging in charity events in the Syrdarya FEZ. Plans were also in place for significant meetings at various cultural and educational institutions across Uzbekistan to foster further bilateral cooperation.

During their stay, the delegation toured the GOC-UZ facility on April 22, a joint venture between Korea’s MSGOC and Uzbekistan’s JSC Uzbektelecom, which has swiftly become a symbol of innovation and technological success since its establishment on October 15, 2019. The facility, known for its advanced manufacturing of optical cables, serves as a vital player in the telecommunications industry.

The delegation explored two of GOC-UZ’s main plants. Plant No. 1 dazzles with its capacity to produce 120,000 kilometers of indoor optical cable annually and 25,000 pieces of CORD cable each month, employing cutting-edge machinery and a skilled workforce dedicated to quality and efficiency. Plant No. 2 focuses on producing outdoor optical cables, with a yearly output of 24,000 kilometers, operating within the expansive Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan complex in Jizzakh. This complex, launched in 2020, spans 4.5 hectares and houses more than 5,000 square meters of production space.

The visit allowed guests to witness firsthand the meticulous process of creating optical communication cables, an essential component of modern communications infrastructure. As visitors toured the expansive production floors, they were not just walking through a factory, they were stepping into the future of global communication technology, crafted right in the heart of Uzbekistan.

This visit not only highlighted the factory’s impressive capabilities but also reinforced the strength of the Uzbek-Korean partnership. It served as a reminder of how international cooperation can lead to remarkable achievements and innovations that benefit the entire world. As GOC-UZ continues to grow and expand, it stands as a proud symbol of progress and a bridge between cultures, technology, and brilliant ideas.
